About The Position

Baystate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Observation Unit at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. The unit cares for outpatient and observation patients admitted from the Emergency Department for short stays of 24 hours or less. Patients have a variety of diagnoses, including chest pain, asthma, syncope, anemia, back pain, deep vein thrombosis, and heart failure.

The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care and collaborates with other healthcare team members. The nurse is responsible for the patient’s plan of care and accountable for decisions involving assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Care must meet expected standards while accounting for patients’ physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, spiritual, safety, and age-related needs. The nurse maintains current technical knowledge and skills, complies with applicable regulatory and accrediting standards, and holds an active Massachusetts Registered Nurse license.

Requirements

• Successfully pass the Board of Registration in Nursing Examination and hold a current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; the posting also lists a Diploma in Nursing as required.
• At least 1 year of RN experience.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
