About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) on a 26-bed post-operative surgical unit with 16 telemetry beds. The unit is fast-paced and cares for patients undergoing Gastroenterology, Urology, Gynecology, and Plastic Surgery procedures. Patients often have abdominal drains, wound VACS, PCA pumps, and epidurals. Approximately 75% of patients are admitted from the PACU or are step-down patients from the Surgical ICU. The RN will manage the care of 4-5 patients on day and PM shifts and 5-6 patients on the night shift. The unit can manage patients on various drips including insulin, ketamine, dobutamine, heparin, and angiomax. This unit is suitable for experienced Med-Surg nurses looking to advance their skills and for new graduate nurses seeking to develop into advanced clinical settings like ICU, ED, OR, and NP roles. The unit is a top performer in quality outcomes and has a high rate of certified nurses. Shared Governance is a key part of the unit's culture, giving nurses and nursing assistants a voice in daily operations. The unit received top team member engagement scores in 2021.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

  • Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process.
  • Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Utilize evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making, compassion, and communication skills.
  • Lead efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
