Registered Nurse - PCU
About The Position
Registered Nurse position on the PCU. The unit cares for patients with active oncology diagnoses or treatment, including solid tumors and hematologic cancers, as well as patients admitted for oncology workups or with a cancer history who are hospitalized for other reasons. Patients without an oncology diagnosis may also be admitted for reasons such as surgical procedures, COPD, sepsis, abnormal labs, or pneumonia. This is a corrections unit serving inmates of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC). The unit is locked, and entry requires access from a Corrections Officer (CO). The nurse must float within OSU and work every other weekend, Friday and Saturday.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience; candidates with only 1 year of experience require manager review and will not receive auto offers.
- BLS certification.
- ACLS certification.
- Previous telemetry experience.
- Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drips.
- Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills.
- Ability to work in a locked corrections unit where entry requires access from a Corrections Officer.
Nice To Haves
- Previous travel nursing experience is addressed in the posting as a candidate consideration, but no specific preference is stated.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to PCU patients, including patients with oncology diagnoses or undergoing oncology treatment.
