The Registered Nurse works in a 22-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation and Orthopedic unit, with 9 orthopedic beds and 13 inpatient rehabilitation beds. During low-census periods, nurses may care for Medical-Surgical patients as needed. Nurse-patient ratios are 1:4 in Medical-Surgical and 1:6 in Inpatient Rehab; ratios may vary with patient acuity and are reviewed twice daily during staffing meetings. The position is on the night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM, with availability required every other weekend and for rotating holiday shifts. Self-scheduling is not offered, though management will work with staff on some scheduling preferences. Nurses may float to other Medical-Surgical units with similar staffing ratios when needed. Each night shift has a Patient Care Technician to assist with activities of daily living and vital signs. Charge nurses are present on each shift, take patient assignments, and oversee team operations. Orientation includes three days of classroom training followed by two precepted shifts on the floor. Nurses must wear navy blue scrubs, which the facility does not provide. The facility location is generalized in the posting.
