About The Position

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for its 37-bed Medical Surgical/4 East unit, which serves orthopedic, hip fracture, ENT, and oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) populations. Nurses on the unit are expected to demonstrate cultural sensitivity to the needs of patients and a diverse staff. The RN provides patient-centered, evidence-based nursing care and contributes to BMC’s mission of delivering exceptional and equitable care. The position is scheduled for 36 hours on nights.

Requirements

Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Certification in basic life support (BLS).
Nursing degree: Diploma, Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); ability to obtain a BSN within four years.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
Basic computer proficiency.
Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty certification where required for certain practice areas.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is required in certain units.

Nice To Haves

One or more years of RN experience preferred.
BSN preferred.
Fluency in another language is a plus.

Responsibilities

Deliver Medical Surgical nursing care, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients.
Communicate with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to interprofessional colleagues.
Update and manage patient records.
Enter and interpret computerized data and information.
Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
Assist the leadership team with quality improvement projects as needed.
