About The Position

The Kansas City VA Medical Center is recruiting an intermittent (PRN) Float Pool Registered Nurse. The nurse provides competent, evidence-based care across multiple settings and oversees licensed vocational nurses and nursing assistants as appropriate. Assignments vary according to patient census, acuity, and staffing needs, with the possibility of extended placements to support long-term staffing. Float Pool assignments include a 19-bed Emergency Department, four Med-Surg/Telemetry units (typically a 4:1 patient ratio), inpatient mental health, a 21-day outpatient alcohol and substance abuse rehabilitation program, and ICUs. In the ICU, Float Pool nurses care only for medical-surgical/telemetry overflow patients. The position is intermittent and is not telework or virtual. Relocation and recruitment incentives and permanent change of station are not authorized. Eligibility for health insurance and flexible spending accounts may apply if the employee is expected to work over 130 hours per month for 90 days.
