About The Position
The Registered Nurse works in a Progressive Care unit divided into a 20-bed Intermediate Care section for high-acuity patients and an 8-bed overflow area for lower-acuity intermediate care patients. Intermediate Care patients may require oxygen, BiPAP, tracheostomies, or mechanical ventilation. The overflow area helps alleviate pressure on the emergency department, and patients are typically moved to medical-surgical units as beds become available. The nurse provides care to patients with varying acuity, administers prescribed medications and treatments, monitors patient status, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on care plans, and educates patients and families.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of nursing experience in a similar setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care to individuals with varying degrees of acuity.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, which may include heparin, insulin, and cardiac infusions.
- Monitor patient vital signs and respond promptly to changes in condition.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families about care plans and health management.
