About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) works in Mary Brigh 7DE, an 18-bed thoracic and vascular intensive care unit serving a diverse patient population. Patients include thoracic, vascular, orthopedic, plastics, urology, ENT, oral/facial, interventional radiology-lytic procedure, status 1A heart, and obstetric patients, as well as occasional cardiovascular surgery and medical patients. The unit provides short-term postoperative care averaging two to three days, with occasional longer-term care for complex multisystem failure. Nurses collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support patient care. The RN coordinates nursing care, including direct care, patient and family education, and transitions of care. Working within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model and the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, the RN plans, implements, evaluates, and communicates all phases of care for assigned patients. The RN provides leadership through precepting, formal and informal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts; delegates care according to skill level, experience, acuity, fiscal accountability, and available resources; and may participate in committees or projects. New graduate nurses are directed to apply through the Nurse Residency Program posting. The position is eligible for TN sponsorship, which requires state licensure and VisaScreen or equivalent certification. Some employees may be required to drive a personal vehicle as part of their role.
