About The Position

River Place Behavioral Health, a service of Ochsner Health System, provides psychiatric care for adults experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and other mental health concerns. The facility is located in LaPlace, Louisiana. This Registered Nurse role is available full-time, part-time, and PRN, with a full-time night-shift opportunity advertised. Shifts are 12 hours, with every other weekend required. The full-time night position offers a $15,000 bonus. Hourly rates are up to $42, with shift differentials depending on shift and day of work. The Registered Nurse provides and coordinates patient care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs, developing and implementing nursing care plans, maintaining medical records, and educating patients and families. The nurse delivers care within applicable nursing standards, state regulations, and facility and corporate policies. The role also involves monitoring and documenting patient status, communicating significant changes to physicians, administering medications, completing admission and discharge procedures, and coordinating unit activities as directed. Nurses are expected to maintain professional therapeutic relationships and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, coworkers, and others involved in treatment. Requirements

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license as required by the state of employment, or eligibility to practice nursing in accordance with state requirements.
One year of nursing experience.
CPR certification and de-escalation and restraint certification; training is available upon hire and offered by the facility.
First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Nice To Haves

Previous psychiatric, mental, behavioral, or substance use nursing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assess patients’ physical and behavioral health needs and provide and coordinate care.
Develop and implement nursing care plans specific to assessed needs.
Maintain medical records and educate patients and their families about physical and behavioral health conditions.
Provide nursing care within state Nurse Practice Act regulations, applicable standards and scope of practice, and facility and corporate policies and procedures.
Ensure verbal physicians’ orders are legible when transcribed and are handled according to policy and procedure.
Assess patients’ status on an ongoing basis and gather and document pertinent information.
Notify physicians of significant status changes, including detox difficulties, medical emergencies, medication-response changes, and related challenges.
Complete initial nursing treatment plans upon admission and ensure plans address assessed needs.
Use universal precautions when providing direct patient care.
Administer medications accurately according to ordered instructions.
Document controlled-substance medication counts on required documents.
Complete admission and discharge processing efficiently and accurately as directed.
Maintain therapeutic rapport and professional boundaries with patients, respect personal space, give patients direct attention, and maintain rational detachment.
Provide direction or coordinate unit activities as directed.
Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patients, visitors, coworkers, and others involved in inpatient treatment.
