About The Position

Reporting to the Primary Health Care Manager and in collaboration with the primary health care clinicians and team, this position supports effective relationships between the client and the health care team. This position works within the RN competencies as defined by the SRNA to assist in the triage, assessment, management and disposition of stable and unstable clients seeking care at the CEC primary care clinic. The RN is capable of working collaboratively within the PHC team to provide urgent / emergent care to patients across the lifespan. The responsibility for client management in a CEC is a shared responsibility between the RN, paramedic and the on-line physician. During the day time CEC service the RN will collaborate with the local team, local MD, and local NP to provide client care. During the Night time CEC service, it is a requirement that the RN, in collaboration with the paramedic, will assess the patient in collaboration with the on-line physician.

Requirements

  • Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Minimum availability of [1,2,3,4] days per week.
  • Upload all relevant documents (ex: certificates, diplomas, proof of enrollment, licenses and/or memberships) relating to the qualifications of the position.
  • Bring a valid Criminal Record Check (CRC) to the interview; it must be dated within six (6) months and include a vulnerable sector search.

Nice To Haves

  • Trauma Nursing Core Course Instructor certificate (TNCC)
  • Nursing diploma is acceptable
  • Psychiatric Nursing diploma is acceptable
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certificate (PALS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate (ACLS)
  • Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale certificate (CTAS)
  • Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing is acceptable

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the triage, assessment, management and disposition of stable and unstable clients seeking care at the CEC primary care clinic.
  • Provide urgent / emergent care to patients across the lifespan.
  • Collaborate with the paramedic and on-line physician for client management.
  • Collaborate with the local team, local MD, and local NP to provide client care during day time CEC service.
  • Assess patients in collaboration with the on-line physician during Night time CEC service, in collaboration with the paramedic.
