About The Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU Full-Time Days position at Texas Health HEB is for an 18-bed Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) that specializes in Trauma and Neurosurgical patient care. This fast-paced, high-acuity unit offers opportunities for professional growth, career development, and outstanding support. The unit provides 24/7 Intensivist coverage for exceptional pulmonary critical care patient oversight. The professional nurse is expected to demonstrate recognition and understanding of patient's affiliations and will be supported with National Certification Preparation and Courses, as well as test reimbursement/bonus. There is great nurse/doctor collaboration on this unit.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree Nursing or Nursing Diploma required
- RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire required
- Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
- BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
- ACLS – within 90 days required
- NIHSS – within 60 days of hire
- CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
- 1 Year of experience as a clinical nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
Nice To Haves
- BSN preferred
- Current ICU experience strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
- Assesses the patient
- Plans the care of the patient
- Intervenes as appropriate
- Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
- Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
- Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
- Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
