About The Position

The psychiatric unit nurse cares for patients with behavioral health illnesses in an acute care setting. The nurse conducts intake interviews, assesses and evaluates patients, establishes plans of care, maintains a safe therapeutic environment, and works collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team. The nurse may also conduct therapeutic groups.

This is a full-time day-shift position in the Adult Psychiatry department at Cox North in Springfield, Missouri. Scheduled weekly hours are 36, with work hours from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN-approved program.
• Active RN license in the state of Missouri.
• Obtain BLS certification within 90 days.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective leadership abilities.
• Valuable time management skills.
• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility and ability to work in a multitasking environment.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Previous nursing experience.
