About The Position

ChristianaCare Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its 6B Medical Unit, an inpatient unit designed to accommodate 40 adult patients requiring acute and/or chronic medical services. The unit cares for patients with a variety of diagnoses and needs, including pneumonia, syncope, diabetes management, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and altered mental status. Patients may be received, transferred, or admitted from the emergency department, ICU, step-down unit, home, or doctors’ offices. Their condition generally ranges from good to fair. Nurses typically have 5–6 patients, and the charge nurse makes daily assignments based on each patient’s diagnosis, condition, acuity, age, developmental level, and staff qualifications. The Registered Nurse implements a relationship-based care model, building connections with patients, their families, and colleagues while being guided by ChristianaCare’s values of love and excellence. This is a full-time night-shift position with three 12-hour shifts each week, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The shift includes a 20% differential for the entire shift. Weekends and holidays are scheduled according to department guidelines. External candidates are eligible for a $20,000 sign-on bonus.

Requirements

RN license in Delaware or a Compact State.
At least three years of medical/surgical experience in a hospital setting.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

BSN preferred; alternatively, commitment to acquiring a BSN within three years of the hire date.
