About The Position

ChristianaCare Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its 6B Medical Unit in Newark, Delaware. The unit is an inpatient setting designed for 40 adults aged 18 and older who need acute and/or chronic medical services. Patients may have diagnoses or require testing related to pneumonia, syncope, diabetes management, COPD, and altered mental status. Patients are admitted or transferred from the emergency department, ICU, step-down unit, home, and doctors’ offices. Their conditions range from good to fair. Registered nurses typically have 5–6 patients; the charge nurse assigns patients based on diagnosis, condition, acuity, age, developmental level, and staff qualifications. The nurse will implement a relationship-based care model, fostering connections with patients, families, and colleagues while being guided by the organization’s values of love and excellence. This is a full-time night-shift position with three 12-hour shifts each week, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Weekends and holidays are scheduled according to department guidelines. The shift includes a 20% differential for the entire shift. External candidates are eligible for a $20,000 sign-on bonus.

Requirements

Active RN license in Delaware or a Compact State.
At least three years of medical/surgical experience in a hospital setting.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Ability to perform the physical activities listed for the practice area, including standing, walking, sitting, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching, twisting, handling, stooping, and climbing.
Ability to work in conditions involving frequent exposure to biological elements and occasional exposure to chemical and environmental elements.

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred; alternatively, commitment to acquire a BSN within three years of the hire date.
