About The Position

The Registered Nurse will provide critical care to patients with cardiovascular conditions in a 12-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2 or 1:1 depending on patient acuity, and intensivists are available 24/7 for patient management. Respiratory therapy services are also available 24/7 and shared among the department. The role includes unit-specific orientation.

The position guarantees 36 hours per week and consists of 12-hour night shifts. Every-other-weekend shifts are expected, with flexible weekend scheduling. Holiday shifts are required based on unit needs. Call or standby may be required up to three times in a 12-week period. Navy blue scrubs are required. Candidates who have worked within a 50-mile radius of the facilities in the past year may be subject to additional conditions.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in a cardiovascular intensive care setting.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Current BLS certification.
• Pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts with a minimum score of 80%.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with fresh open-heart surgery patients is preferred.
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic health records is a plus.
• Experience with Impella devices is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the CVICU.
• Monitor and manage patients’ vital signs and medical conditions.
• Titrate medications, including Dexmedetomidine, Propofol, Dopamine, Norepinephrine, Epinephrine, Levosimendan, Insulin, and Cardene.
• Provide care for patients receiving advanced modalities such as IABP and CRRT.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to optimize patient care.
• Read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips.
• Float to other departments as needed based on skill requirements.
