About The Position

The Registered Nurse works on a 24-bed medical-surgical unit providing comprehensive care to patients requiring telemetry monitoring and postoperative support. The unit has 36 staff members, patient ratios of 1:6, and uses Meditech Expanse (PCS) as its electronic medical record. The nurse may float to the ICU to care for medical-surgical overflow patients.

The position operates on a four-week schedule. Staff must sign up to work every other weekend or two weekends, and must be available to work holidays. Requests for time off must be pre-approved. The dress code is navy blue scrubs.

Requirements

• Telemetry experience.
• Postoperative care experience.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• Self-motivated, takes initiative, and works well as a team player.
• Availability to work every other weekend or two weekends and holidays.
• Requests for time off must be pre-approved.

Nice To Haves

• Two or more years of experience.
• PALS certification.
• NIH certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide telemetry monitoring and postoperative care.
• Perform daily weights, monitor vital signs, and measure intake and output.
• Conduct hourly rounding and bedside reports.
• Perform Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI).
• Manage cardiac and heparin infusions.
• Provide phototherapy and wound care.
• Start IVs.
• Admit and discharge assigned patients.
• Provide NG tube and Foley catheter care.
• Potentially float to the ICU for medical-surgical overflow patients.
