About The Position

The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients in an inpatient environment. The role requires competency in providing care primarily to adult patients. The position is on the 5th Floor Surgical unit at Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital, with a 0700–1930 schedule, an every-third-weekend rotation, and an A/B holiday rotation. Applicants need clinical competence and experience caring for and managing patient populations specific to the area of employment. Nursing theory and practice knowledge normally acquired through completion of an accredited School of Nursing program that makes the candidate eligible for RN licensure is required. A Wisconsin RN license or qualifying multistate license is required, as is AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), or an approved equivalent, within 90 days of hire. Newly hired or transferred RNs who do not hold a BSN or higher nursing degree and have less than one year of RN experience must provide proof of acceptance into an accredited BSN-or-higher nursing program within 15 months of hire or transfer, and complete the program within five years of enrollment. Exceptions and alternative nursing-degree pathways are described in the posting. A bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred. Froedtert Health describes its work environment as offering meaningful work, supportive colleagues, learning and career-development opportunities, complex patient populations, opportunities to move across specialties and facilities, no force mandating, and among the lowest patient ratios in the area. The health network is a partnership between Froedtert Health and the Medical College of Wisconsin, supporting patient care, innovation, research, and education.
