Registered Nurse - Med Surg Nephrology Care Unit

The Medical-Surgical Nephrology Care Unit is a 25-bed medical-surgical unit providing comprehensive care to patients with acute and chronic kidney conditions, including chronic kidney disease (CKD), acute kidney injury (AKI), and electrolyte imbalances. The unit also cares for patients receiving hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. In addition to nephrology patients, the unit provides care for patients with a variety of diagnoses, including cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, and endocrine conditions. Patients are monitored via telemetry, and all new hires are required to successfully complete mandatory telemetry training.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans.
- Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
- Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
- Health care provider certification (BCLS).

Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care.
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Delegate, supervise, and document care and teaching for patients and families.
- Communicate pertinent patient/family information to the healthcare team.
- Participate in finding and implementing solutions for variances from patient goals.
