About The Position

This position involves providing direct and indirect nursing care within an urgent care setting. The role requires contributing to patient assessment, determining priorities, identifying nursing measures and therapeutic objectives, and evaluating outcomes. The position demands independent judgment, flexibility, strong organization skills, and the ability to use an interdisciplinary approach in patient care. Responsibilities include obtaining patient history, assessing patients, planning nursing care, verifying physician's orders (no verbal orders accepted), communicating patient data, re-assessing patient conditions, administering medications and IV therapies, interpreting cardiac rhythms, initiating appropriate measures in emergencies, and instructing patients/families. The nurse will operate essential medical equipment and be able to initiate life-saving measures in the absence of physicians.

Requirements

  • Current license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth in the U.S. or the District of Columbia.
  • Current certification in CPR/BLS and ACLS.
  • Minimum of one year of direct patient care experience within the Urgent Care specialty assigned.
  • Immunizations must be up to date.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect nursing care.
  • Contribute to patient assessment, determine priorities, identify nursing measures and therapeutic objectives, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Obtain patient history and pertinent family history.
  • Assess patients and plan appropriate nursing care.
  • Verify transcription of physician's orders; no verbal orders are to be accepted.
  • Communicate pertinent patient data to charge nurse and/or physician as appropriate.
  • Re-assess the patient's condition and revise plans of care based on identified nursing problems.
  • Administer medications and Intravenous (IV) therapies.
  • Interpret cardiac rhythms and their implications.
  • Initiate appropriate measures in emergencies/therapies and surgical/diagnostic procedures.
  • Instruct patient/family regarding prescribed medications/therapies and surgical/diagnostic procedures.
  • Operate defibrillator, EKG machines, cardiac monitor, and other emergency technical equipment.
  • Initiate life-saving measures in the absence of physicians.
