About The Position
Sentara is hiring full-time Registered Nurse Unit Coordinators at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. Qualified candidates may be eligible for up to a $20,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance. The Oncology 6 RP Unit is a 36-bed inpatient Intermediate Care Unit dedicated to caring for patients with cancer. Nurses on this unit provide compassionate, specialized care while monitoring patient conditions, administering medications, delivering chemotherapy and other treatments, and supporting patients through complex care needs. Care provided on this unit includes chemotherapy, hospice, radiation, stem cell transplant/CAR-T, radioactive iodine, and symptom management. On 9 Kaufman, you’ll care for a diverse patient population and gain hands-on experience with complex vascular procedures such as aortic aneurysm repair, carotid endarterectomy, femoral bypass surgeries, and amputations. The unit also serves as an extension of our renal/pancreas transplant program, partnering closely with the outpatient transplant center to support patients through critical stages of care. Every bed is monitored, giving nurses the opportunity to strengthen telemetry skills while expanding their expertise in surgical specialty and transplant nursing. At Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Emergency Department nurses care for patients in one of the region’s most advanced and fast-paced clinical environments. Our 53-bed Emergency Department is equipped to manage a wide range of medical emergencies, with approximately 10% of cases related to trauma. Sentara Norfolk General Emergency Department, Level 1 Trauma Center has been recognized with the Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award, honoring exceptional and innovative leadership, practice, education, advocacy, and research.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse license required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire
- 18 months RN experience required
Nice To Haves
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department.
- Under the direction of the department manager leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff.
- Increase staff satisfaction and promotes excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.
