About The Position

This 4th-floor unit specializes in surgical and neuro care with a total of 48 beds, divided into two sections: 4A and 4B. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, ensuring quality patient care. Common diagnoses and types of patients include COVID-19, respiratory issues, gastrointestinal conditions, diabetes management, telemetry patients, Transient Ischemic Attacks (TIA), Cerebrovascular Accidents (CVA), and general, orthopedic, and spinal surgery patients. The unit utilizes the Cerner charting system for documentation and patient management. There is a department-specific orientation lasting one shift to promote familiarity with unit protocols and procedures.

Requirements

  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • Experience in reading basic telemetry strips
  • Experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, CVA, and TIA is preferred
  • Cerner experience is recommended due to a short orientation period

Responsibilities

  • Interpreting telemetry strips, with remote monitoring by technologists.
  • Signing off on strip interpretations at least once per shift.
  • Working collaboratively with nurse aides.
