About The Position

We are seeking a Registered Nurse for the surgery team at St Mary's Medical Center in Blue Springs, Missouri. The Registered Nurse provides direct and indirect peri-operative patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for neonates, children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. The RN coordinates care with the surgeon and anesthesiologist, directs and guides the OR Technician and other personnel, and maintains professional nursing standards. The role works with other departments and co-workers to support continuity and quality of care, efficient patient flow, and unit maintenance and organization. The nurse is accountable to the OR Charge Nurse and Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the House Supervisor.

Requirements

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS (AHA) certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Current PALS (AHA) certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Minimum of one year of previous perioperative experience.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) certification (AORN).
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct and indirect peri-operative patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients across age groups.
• Coordinate patient care with the surgeon and anesthesiologist.
• Direct and guide the OR Technician and other personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.
• Collaborate with other departments to provide a continuum of care.
• Work with co-workers to provide continuous, quality patient care and efficient patient flow, and to maintain unit organization.
• Adhere to regulations, standards, and hospital or unit policies and procedures.
• Participate in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings, and in-services.
• Act as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.
