About The Position

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Supervisor, RN for the Burn Trauma, Intermediate Care - Medical/Surgical Unit. This role plays a key leadership role in the nursing department, supporting the manager in overseeing all patient care activity on their assigned nursing unit(s). Responsibilities include ensuring high standards of care, coordinating daily nursing activities, and facilitating communication between medical teams. The role also involves assisting with the training, mentoring, and performance evaluations of clinical staff, managing patient care assignments, resolving patient and family concerns, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and safety regulations. Additionally, the supervisor assists in staffing decisions, maintains inventory for medical supplies, and ensures the unit is properly equipped to provide quality care. The Burn Trauma unit is a 34-bed mixed Intermediate care and medical/surgical unit with 17 beds for stepdown/intermediate care and 17 beds for Medical/Surgical care. The patient population includes neurosurgery, trauma, burns, orthopedic trauma, and bariatric weight loss patients. New graduate RNs are welcome and will participate in an 11-week Transition to Practice program, which is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN (Required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • 2 years relevant nursing experience
  • 1 year nursing leadership experience required
