About The Position

6 North is a 12-bed unit that applies critical care and neuroscience principles at an intermediate level. The unit primarily cares for patients transferring from the Neuro ICU, including those with neurotrauma, subarachnoid, intraventricular, or intracerebral hemorrhage. It also serves ENT patients with cancer who have undergone tumor resection and flap reconstruction, post-operative spine patients, and individuals with a variety of neurological problems. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:3.

Requirements

• BLS required
• ACLS required
• NIH required
• Epic experience required
• Must have VA license pending

Responsibilities

• Provide critical care and neuroscience nursing at an intermediate level.
• Care for patients with neurotrauma, subarachnoid, intraventricular, or intracerebral hemorrhage.
• Care for ENT patients with cancer who have had tumor resection and flap reconstruction.
• Care for post-operative spine patients.
• Manage a variety of neurological problems.
• Adhere to UVA's float policy.
