About The Position

6 North is a 12-bed unit that applies critical care and neuroscience principles at an intermediate level. The unit primarily cares for patients transferring from the Neuro ICU. Common patient populations include those with neuro trauma, subarachnoid, intraventricular, or intracerebral hemorrhage, ENT patients with cancer who have undergone tumor resection and flap reconstruction, post-operative spine patients, and a variety of other neurological conditions. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:3.

Requirements

• BLS required
• ACLS required
• NIH required
• Must adhere to UVA's float policy
• Must have Epic experience
• Can submit with VA license pending

Responsibilities

• Provide critical care and neuroscience nursing at an intermediate level.
• Care for patients transferring from the Neuro ICU.
• Manage patients with neuro trauma, subarachnoid, intraventricular, or intracerebral hemorrhage.
• Care for ENT patients with cancer who have had tumor resection and flap reconstruction.
• Provide care for post-operative spine patients.
• Address a wide range of neurological problems.
• Adhere to UVA's float policy.
