About The Position

This is a Registered Nurse position on the 15E James unit, specializing in Acute Leukemia and Hematology. The role involves caring for adult and geriatric patients, primarily those newly diagnosed with acute leukemia. The unit focuses heavily on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention. This is a 12-hour Day/Night rotating contract. No chemo certification is required for this position. First-time travelers are encouraged to apply. The staffing ratio goal is 1:4, but may be 1:5. Weekend coverage is variable based on unit needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period and may change based on staffing priorities.

Requirements

Overall 2 years of acute care nursing experience.
At least 1 year of PCU experience.
BLS certification.
ACLS certification.
MS/Tele skills.
Telemetry interpretation of dysrhythmias.
Experience with telemetry monitoring.
Experience with Rapid Response Teams.
Experience with feeding tube care and management.
Experience with IV therapy/Phlebotomy.
Experience with Blood Product Administration.
Experience with Central line blood draw.
Experience with Peripheral Line Care/Management.
Experience with PICC line management.
Experience starting IVs.
Proficiency in Computerized Charting (EPIC).

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric patients, with a primary focus on acute leukemia patients.
