About The Position

Provides direct patient care in a designated specialty unit in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and the organization's policies, values, and mission. The role focuses on patient- and family-centered care and requires critical thinking, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.

Requirements

• Accredited nursing program education.
• At least one year of nursing experience.
• Registered Nurse license issued by the State of Florida or a compact multistate RN license.
• Required BLS certification from an accepted American Heart Association or Red Cross pathway, including applicable grace-period credentials.
• Required ACLS certification for emergency department (ED) and specialty areas, with accepted American Heart Association or Red Cross pathways and applicable grace-period credentials.
• Critical thinking and effective communication skills.
• Decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient and/or family learning needs and provide education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Effectively delegate patient care to ancillary personnel.
• May precept student nurses and new hires.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
• Monitor, document, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Collaborate across disciplines as needed to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral, and spiritual and/or psychosocial support needs.
