About The Position

CoxHealth is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Skin Wound Ostomy Team South. This full-time position involves managing patients with skin, wound, and ostomy needs, including urinary and fecal diversions, draining wounds, fistulas, incontinence, and acute/chronic wounds. The nurse will provide care in both outpatient (Colo-Rectal Clinic) and inpatient settings. Responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, developing care plans, administering medications, changing dressings, managing negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) pumps, and marking ostomy sites pre-operatively. The role also involves educating patients and families on pre/post-operative care, wound management, ostomy care, and appliance maintenance. The nurse will be cross-trained in wound care, including NPWT applications.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • RN license active in the state of Missouri.
  • BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Must obtain COCN from WOCNCB or OMS certification from NAWCO within 24 months of hire. If employee has a BSN, the COCN certification is required instead of OMS.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of bedside nursing experience within the last five years.
  • Previous recent acute care med/surg nursing experience.
  • Wound and/or Ostomy experience.

Responsibilities

  • See ostomy patients in outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Manage patients with skin, wound, and ostomy needs, including urinary and fecal diversions, draining wounds, fistulas, incontinence, and acute/chronic wounds.
  • Cross-train in wound care, including application of negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) dressings.
  • Assess patient condition and develop a plan of care.
  • Administer medications.
  • Change dressings.
  • Manage NPWT pumps (wound vacs).
  • Mark ostomy sites pre-operatively.
  • Provide support and education to patients and their families regarding pre/post-operative care, wound care, ostomy care, and ostomy appliance maintenance/trouble-shooting.
