About The Position

MaineGeneral is actively seeking New Graduate Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our skilled nursing team at Gray Birch. A skilled nursing unit in long-term care is a fast-paced, clinical environment where patients receive short-term rehabilitation or ongoing medical care after a hospital stay. Patients often have complex needs such as wound care, IV therapy, post-surgical recovery, or management of chronic conditions. This setting allows you to spend more time with your patients, build meaningful relationships, and see their progress over time—all while developing strong clinical and critical-thinking skills.

Requirements

  • Active State of Maine RN license (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn

Responsibilities

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel.
  • May precept student nurses and new hires.
  • May perform assigned supervisory responsibilities as needed.
