About The Position

Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Solid Organ Transplant 7A unit at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The 18-bed unit cares for kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant recipients, as well as living donors and auto-islet patients. The position is 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks), with 12-hour night shifts and a rotation every third weekend. Patient assignments are occasionally two patients for fresh transplants; otherwise, assignments are three to four patients on days and evenings and four to five patients on nights. The nurse assesses, plans, delivers, and evaluates care for assigned patients, coordinates care with the healthcare team, delegates responsibilities appropriately, and follows policies, procedures, and the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act. Success requires adaptability, willingness to learn, critical thinking, problem-solving, flexibility, collaboration, and a patient-first approach in a fast-paced, evolving environment where nurses may work under stress. New graduates may participate in the Nurse Residency Program, which provides a structured, practice-based transition from nursing school to hospital practice. The 12-month program includes eight hours of curriculum-based learning every two months on topics such as time management, interprofessional teamwork, communication, wellbeing, social determinants of health, and critical thinking. Residents also receive mentorship, networking opportunities, and hands-on clinical learning; virtual reality is being piloted as a formative learning experience.
