The facility performs approximately 80% orthopedic cases and 20% general surgeries. Full-time nurses rotate between PreOp and PACU areas and collaborate with floor nurses on patient admissions. Staffing ratios are 1:2 in Pre-Op, 1:1 in PACU Phase 1, and 2:2 in PACU Phase 2. The unit uses stretchers, blood glucose monitors, vital sign monitors, Pyxis machines, and Meditech EMR. PACU call requires one to two shifts per week, with at least one shift, Monday through Thursday from 1700 to 0500. Weekend call assistance may occasionally be requested. Holiday shifts are split among the team when holidays fall Monday through Thursday.
