About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides care for adult patients, including post-surgical patients and patients with strokes, oncology diagnoses (chemotherapy experience is not required), CHF, COPD, respiratory and GI issues, orthopedic conditions such as total joint replacement, and COVID. Pediatric patients may also be assigned when the nurse has pediatric experience. Assignments may occasionally involve total care or acting as a CNA. The role may require floating among 2EW, 2NW, 3EW, 3NW, the 5th floor, and the ER for MedSurg holds. The position offers day shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or night shifts from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with an every-other-weekend rotation. Scrubs may be any solid color without graphics or designs. The facility is a 226-bed nonprofit community hospital.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience.
Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
BLS certification.
ACLS certification.
Must pass a telemetry examination during compliance.
Skills in general MedSurg nursing care.

Nice To Haves

PALS certification is preferred.
Pediatrics experience is preferred but not required.
Psychiatry experience is preferred but not required.
First-time travelers are considered.

Responsibilities

Provide nursing care to patients, including adults with post-surgical, stroke, oncology, cardiac, respiratory, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, and COVID-related needs.
Care for pediatric patients when applicable if the nurse has pediatric experience.
Perform or assist with general MedSurg nursing care, including chest tubes, tracheostomies, PICC/midlines/central lines, Foley catheters, NG tubes, dressing changes, wound vacs, ostomies, and telemetry.
Occasionally take a total-care assignment or possibly act as a CNA.
Float among 2EW, 2NW, 3EW, 3NW, the 5th floor, and the ER for MedSurg holds.
Work an every-other-weekend rotation.
