Registered Nurse (RN) - Ortho Specialty Unit - St Francis Medical Center
About The Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Ortho Specialty Unit provides exceptional nursing care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses. The role uses organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, applies a broad range of medical skills, implements clinical nursing interventions, and develops and carries out patient care plans to improve outcomes. The nurse is responsible for maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment and collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team. This position is in the Ortho/Surgical Telemetry department at St. Francis Richmond. The schedule is 36 hours per week on days/afternoons. Candidates accepting a full-time offer may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000, subject to rules and restrictions; internal Bon Secours associates are not eligible.
Requirements
- One year of RN experience is required.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred.
- Six months of RN experience in an acute care hospital setting is preferred.
- BLS Basic Life Support is preferred upon hire; it must be obtained from an approved source before direct patient care. ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support is acceptable in lieu of BLS.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient status using organizational and leadership skills.
- Provide care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses.
- Implement clinical nursing interventions.
- Develop and perform patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
- Collect vital signs, administer IV medications, understand charting, and assess patient condition.
- Evaluate, update, and revise the plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
- Administer medications safely in accordance with the State of Practice and Mercy Health policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
