About The Position

This role is for a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services, a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. The primary focus is on collecting high-quality plasma that becomes life-changing medicine. The position requires a commitment to customer service and quality. The nurse will determine donor eligibility, manage adverse events, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. They will work under the guidance of the Center Manager for operations and the Center Physician for medical issues, adhering to industry regulations and BioLife's environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, including graduation from a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment: Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Determine donor eligibility, including managing informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interviews, acceptance requirements, physical examinations, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
  • Evaluate donor reactions as outlined in SOPs.
  • Follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including standing orders and donor transport to emergency facilities.
  • Consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings, medical/technical guidance, and donor safety/eligibility.
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER, referring to EHS guidance.
  • Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
