About The Position

Registered Nurse, RN (Full-time, Days) - Surgery (Ortho) at Texas Health Dallas. Texas Health Dallas has been at the forefront of health care in North Texas for over half a century. It is an 875-bed, Magnet-designated, full-service hospital serving the community in and around Dallas since 1966. The hospital specializes in cancer care, cardiology, neurosciences, women’s services, and emergency medicine. It also features a renowned Level III neonatal intensive care unit, a Comprehensive Stroke and Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, and provides wellness services, outpatient surgery, and women’s imaging services. Texas Health Dallas is a Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Care Center, a Level I Trauma Center, a Cycle IV Chest Pain Center, and a designated Magnet hospital. The role is for a full-time, days position in Surgery (Ortho). The work location is Texas Health Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill Ln, Dallas, TX 75231. Work hours are Full Time- 40 Hours; Days; Monday-Friday 0630-1500, with holiday and on-call required. Surgery highlights include 24 Main OR Suites, 2 Endovascular rooms, 3 Robot rooms, 2 Heart rooms. The environment is fast-paced with a high volume of Robot, Urology, Plastics, and GYN service lines. It is a Level I Trauma facility with a strong Minimally Invasive CV program.

Requirements

  • Associate degree Nursing required or Nursing Diploma
  • 1 Year Experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program (Required)
  • RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire (Required upon hire)
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required upon hire)

Nice To Haves

  • BSN (Preferred)
  • RN Operating Room experience in Ortho (Strongly Preferred)
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
  • OR RN Surgery Circulator duties and skills
  • Assesses the patient
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
