Registered Nurse (RN) - Liver Care ICU - Rotating
About The Position
The Registered Nurse will work in the Liver Care ICU, a 15-bed unit specializing in critical care for liver transplant and transplant hepatology patients. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1 or 1:2, tailored to the complexity of assignments, and providers are present on the unit around the clock. The liver transplant program is growing; VCU Health completed 205 liver transplants in 2023. VCU Health is an academic teaching facility and Magnet-designated organization focused on nursing excellence and patient-centered care. The organization uses Epic as its electronic health record system. The job posting lists a compensation rate of $60. Requirements
- Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligibility for licensure in Virginia, or a compact state, at hire (Clin I, Clin II, and Clin III).
- Current RN licensure in Virginia and AHA BLS HCP certification or equivalent for continued employment (Clin I, Clin II, and Clin III).
- Clin II: 12 to 24 months of RN experience.
- Clin III: 3 years of clinical experience.
- Diploma or associate degree from a professional nursing program recognized and/or approved by the corresponding state’s Board of Nursing (Clin I, Clin II, and Clin III).
- Registered nurses without a bachelor's degree in nursing or higher must enroll in an approved RN-to-BSN program within two years of their start date and complete it within five years, unless grandfathered under previous requirements.
Nice To Haves
- Clin I: Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant, or care partner in an acute care setting or as applicable to the area of practice.
- Clin II and Clin III: Academic health care experience and experience with a similar patient population in an acute care setting or as applicable to the area of practice.
- Clin I, Clin II, and Clin III: Bachelor's degree in nursing or higher from an accredited program.
- Clin III: Certification in a specialty area.
