About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Trauma Program Coordinator is responsible for Trauma Prevention Education, providing injury prevention and trauma care. This role works directly with the Trauma Medical Director and Trauma Committee to develop and implement injury prevention education. The coordinator serves as a resource to nursing staff, pre-hospital personnel, and other outside personnel related to trauma care and injury prevention education. This position acts as a spokesperson for injury and trauma prevention issues and establishes and implements strategies for continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Current state or compact state RN license
• Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school
• BLS Required
• ER/Trauma Experience Required

Nice To Haves

• ACLS
• PALS
• Handle with Care preferred
• Trauma Coordinator Experience Preferred

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Assists the Emergency Department Nurse Manager in the development, implementation and evaluation of performance improvement indicators to improve patient outcomes and the work environment.
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments
