About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) Surgical Telemetry position at Texas Health Plano is a full-time night shift role. This unit focuses on providing care for patients undergoing general medical surgery, surgical telemetry, and post-operative coronary bypass recovery after their ICU stay. Texas Health Plano is a 386-bed, full-service hospital serving North Texas, specializing in emergency medicine and trauma, cardiology, neurosurgery and spine, advanced orthopedics, women’s services, adult and adolescent behavioral health, an adult intensive care unit, and technologically advanced surgical services. It is a Level II Trauma Facility, the only healthcare facility in Collin County with Level IV NICU and Level IV Maternal facility designations, and has a DNV-certified Comprehensive Stroke Program. The hospital is a four-time Magnet-designated hospital, has the only AACN Beacon Gold adult intensive care unit in the DFW area, is accredited by the Joint Commission in Hip and Knee Replacement, and is a Primary Heart Attack Center.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma
• RN (required)
• CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency (required)
• 1 year experience as a clinical nurse or completion of an RN residency program
• RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days Req

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred
• 2 years of RN experience in cardiac or telemetry preferred
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 Days Req

Responsibilities

• Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
• Assesses the patient
• Plans the care of the patient
• Intervenes as appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
