About The Position

This is a full-time Registered Nurse position on a 16-bed Surgical Inpatient unit at Texas Health Frisco. The unit is fast-paced with quick turnover and primarily handles surgical patients, with the capacity to take med/surg overflow. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4, sometimes 1:5. The role involves delivering care using the Nursing Process, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation, while incorporating age-specific safety and infection control measures. The nurse will also initiate actions to meet patient information needs and maintain continuity of care across shifts and between facilities.

Requirements

Nursing Diploma
Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program
One-year experience as a registered nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.
RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator and coordinator for quality patient care
BCLS - upon hire - expiration date greater than 3 months preferred
ACLS - upon hire required
CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training - within 60 days of hire

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
One year of Emergency experience strongly preferred
1-2 years charge experience in Medical Surgical preferred

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
Assesses the patient
Plans the care of the patient
Intervenes as appropriate
Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
