About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) Surgical Inpatient will deliver care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process. This includes assessing the patient, planning the care of the patient, intervening as appropriate, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. The role also incorporates age-specific safety/infection control measures into patient care and initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others' need for information. Maintaining continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out-of-hospital transfers is also a key responsibility. This is a full-time position working days (7a-7p) on a 16-bed surgical unit at Texas Health Frisco, which is a fast-paced, quick turnover unit. The unit has a 1:4 patient ratio, at times 1:5, and experiences med/surg overflow.

Requirements

• Nursing Diploma
• Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program
• One-year experience as a registered nurse, or completion of an RN residency program
• RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator and coordinator for quality patient care
• BCLS - upon hire - expiration date greater than 3 months preferred
• ACLS - upon hire required
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training - within 60 days of hire

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred
• One year of Emergency experience strongly preferred
• 1-2 years charge experience in Medical Surgical preferred
• Experience with tele, surgical preferred - primary surgical unit and take med/surg overflow
