About The Position

Highpoint Health Sumner is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care in Surgery. The RN uses the nursing process and specialized plan-of-care interventions to support exceptional patient journeys and patient well-being. Care is provided in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice, with work in other nursing units as needed. The role serves patients across the lifespan, from neonates through older adults, and includes a required call schedule.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• BCLS certification.
• Required call schedule.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• ACLS certification.
• PALS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice in Surgery.
• Perform plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care.
• Document patient care provided.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharge, referrals, and spiritual or psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluate patient and family learning needs and provide education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocate for patients’ physical and emotional well-being.
• Provide patient care in other nursing units as necessary.
