Registered Nurse (RN) - Post Surgical
About The Position
This is a Registered Nurse position in a 26-bed post-operative surgical unit with 16 telemetry beds available. The unit is fast-paced and cares for patients with Gastroenterology, Urology, Gynecology, and Plastic Surgery needs. Patients may require management of abdominal drains, wound VACS, PCAs, epidurals, and tube feedings. Approximately 75% of patients are admitted from the PACU or as stepdown from the Surgical ICU. The nurse will manage 4-5 patients on day and PM shifts, and 5-6 patients on the night shift. The unit can manage patients on various drips including insulin, ketamine, dobutamine, heparin, angiomax, etc. This unit is suitable for experienced Med-Surg nurses looking to advance their skills and for new graduate nurses seeking to develop into advanced clinical settings like ICU, ED, OR, and NP roles. The unit is a top performer in quality outcomes and has a high rate of certified nurses. Requirements
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

Responsibilities
- Manages the care of 4-5 patients on day and PM shift and 5-6 patients on the night.
- Manages patients on the following drips: insulin, ketamine, dobutamine, heparin, angiomax, etc.
- Provides and coordinates comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
- Uses evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and communication skills while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
