About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a Perinatal training opportunity at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC. This role is part of a provincial initiative to implement minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs), aimed at enhancing nursing practice and quality of care. This is a specialty training opportunity with specific program dates and a commitment to remain with VCH for at least 18 months post-training.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Approximately one year of recent acute medical/surgical experience is prioritized for eligibility for the post-basic training education.
  • Must successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the Department.
  • Candidates accepting this training opportunity agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they are hired for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training.
  • Must report past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections as part of the onboarding process.

Responsibilities

  • Provide optimal perinatal care (Antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum) to women and babies and their families.
  • Utilize appropriate clinical judgment in collaboration with the health care team.
  • Perform assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of care for assigned patients in the perinatal service.
  • Adhere to standards of professional nursing and patient care practice in accordance with Health Authority policies and procedures.
  • Successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the Department.
  • Agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the area of nursing applicable to the education program for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training.
