About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU - Full-Time, 7P position is a full-time role, 36 hours weekly, with 3-12 hour shifts, from 7 PM to 7 AM. The work location is Texas Health Southwest, 6100 Harris Parkway, Fort Worth, TX 76132. The department is a 36-bed PCU (Progressive Care Unit) with a Nurse/Patient Ratio of 1:4 depending on acuity. The patient population includes intermediate/telemetry level of care for post-acute stroke, general medical, endocrine, GI/renal patients. This is a MAGNET facility, Level III Trauma Center, Primary Stroke center, and Stroke/Neuro designated unit. Requirements

Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
ACLS – within 90 days of hire
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
NIHSS – within 90 days of hire
PCU/Tele experience preferred

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
