About The Position

This is a full-time Registered Nurse position in the Cardiac PCU department at Texas Health Southwest. The department has 36 beds and a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 depending on acuity. The patient population includes intermediate/telemetry level of care for post-acute cardiac, general medical, endocrine GI/renal patients. The facility is a MAGNET facility, a Level III Trauma Center, and a Primary Stroke center. Requirements

Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
CLIAFE - Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency Req
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
ACLS – within 90 days of hire
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
The professional nurse exhibits understanding of basic human needs.
The professional nurse demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations.

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
