About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac PCU position is a full-time role on the night shift, working 36 hours per week with three 12-hour shifts. The role is located at Texas Health Southwest in Fort Worth, TX. The department is a 36-bed Cardiac PCU that cares for intermediate/telemetry level patients including post-acute cardiac, general medical, endocrine, GI/renal patients. The facility is a MAGNET facility, a Level III Trauma Center, and a Primary Stroke center. The position offers self-scheduling for work/life balance and excellent opportunities for educational and career growth, including leadership advancement.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required.
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire.
  • Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency.
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
  • ACLS – within 90 days of hire.
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire.
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of basic human needs.
  • Recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • PCU/Tele and Med/Surg experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
  • Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
