About The Position
Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU – PRN, Days Bring your passion to Texas Health so we are better + together. Work location: Texas Health Southwest, 6100 Harris Parkway, Fort Worth, TX 76132. Work hours: PRN/per diem, Day shift, Minimum requirement: 3 shifts per 6-week schedule, 1 weekend shift and 1 major/1 minor holiday required. Department Highlights: 36 bed PCU Department; Nurse/Patient Ratio: 1:4 depending on acuity. Patient population: intermediate /telemetry level of care for the post-acute stroke, general medical, endocrine GI/renal patient population. MAGNET facility, Level III Trauma Center, Stroke designated unit. Enjoy self-scheduling to help with work/life balance. Requirements
- Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
- Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
- BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
- ACLS – within 90 days of hire
- CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
- NIHSS – within 90 days of hire
- 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
- PCU experience strongly preferred
- High degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
- Exhibits understanding of basic human needs.
- Demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations.
Responsibilities
- Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
- Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
- Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
- Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
