Registered Nurse (RN) Outpatient Oncology Team/Infusion Float - South Region. This full-time position utilizes the nursing process to provide ongoing care according to the age-specific and specialty-specific care needs of the patient. The role involves assessing educational needs and providing teaching and counseling to patients and their families, integrating health promotion and preventive aspects of care, and managing symptoms according to the treatment plan. The RN will assess social determinants of health, coordinate care with appropriate resources, and assume primary responsibility for caseloads. Key responsibilities include anticipating and recognizing changes in patient status, determining care priorities, assessing patient response to services, updating care plans, and communicating with physicians and other providers. In the infusion center setting, the RN will administer medications including chemotherapy, biologic therapies, antibiotics, and other intravenous medications, manage central venous access devices, and perform transfusions and therapeutic phlebotomy. The role also includes telephone consultation/triage, care coordination, and maintaining accurate patient records. The RN will also assist in staff orientation and educational activities, follow policies and procedures, and take ownership of professional development in the specialty area, including pursuing certification. Participation in shared governance activities and sharing acquired knowledge with team members is expected. The position requires the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, including understanding growth and development over the life span and assessing patient needs based on age-specific requirements.
