This part-time position, with benefits eligibility, involves 28 hours per week, primarily supporting a team nurse workflow with cross-training in infusion. The hours are Monday-Thursday from 0900-1600, with no weekend or holiday work. Some floating to other cancer care clinics may be required. The role utilizes the nursing process to provide age-specific and specialty-specific care, including patient and family education, health promotion, symptom management, and assessment of social determinants of health. The nurse will manage caseloads, anticipate patient status changes, prioritize care, and update care plans. Communication with physicians and providers is key, as is coordinating care, administering medications (including chemotherapy and biologics) in an infusion setting, managing central venous access devices, and performing blood product transfusions. Telephone consultation, triage, and care coordination are also responsibilities. Accurate record-keeping, participation in staff development, and adherence to policies and procedures are expected. The role requires continuous professional development, knowledge advancement, and sharing of acquired knowledge to improve care quality. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care needs and the principles of growth and development.
