This is a part-time Registered Nurse position in Outpatient Oncology Infusion. The role is a float position, meaning the nurse will provide care across 13 clinics in Southeastern Wisconsin. The clinics operate primarily Monday-Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. The nurse will utilize the nursing process to provide age-specific and specialty-specific care, assess and address patient and family educational needs, integrate health promotion and preventive care, and manage symptoms according to the treatment plan. The role also involves assessing social determinants of health, coordinating care with resources like navigation and social work, and managing caseloads. The nurse will anticipate and recognize changes in patient status, prioritize care, and update care plans. Communication with physicians and other providers is crucial for confirming and updating the plan of care. In an infusion center setting, the nurse will administer medications including chemotherapy, biologic therapies, antibiotics, and other IV medications, manage central venous access devices, and perform blood product transfusions and therapeutic phlebotomy. Telephone consultation, triage, and care coordination are also key responsibilities. Maintaining accurate patient records and participating in staff orientation and educational activities are expected. The nurse is expected to take ownership of their professional development, advance their knowledge and skills in the specialty, and participate in shared governance activities. The role requires demonstrating knowledge of age-specific care needs and the principles of growth and development.
